Research Focus
The successful applicant will benefit from direct supervision at  Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology (OIPT), working on their research alongside OIPT employees. The EngD Research Engineer will be working in the area of; 

"Investigating alternate laser material systems and fabrication techniques"

Doctoral degree

Student location during the research phase
 OIPT site Yatton, Bristol (after the CDT training phase).  The student will continue to be involved in cohort activities and occasional travel back to Glasgow/Belfast and via Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) partner the Irish Photonic Integration Centre (Cork-Dublin), for ongoing training and annual conference/winter schools.

Plasma Technology, a subsidiary of Oxford Instruments provide etch and deposition process solutions for nanometre sized features, nanolayers and the controlled growth of nanostructures. These solutions are based on core technologies in plasma, ion beam and atomic layer deposition and etch. Products range from clustered cassette-to-cassette platforms for high-throughput production processing to compact stand-alone systems for R&D. Many of OIPT's instruments are used within the James Watt Nanofabrication Facility at the University of Glasgow, of which (all CDT PIADS students will have access to (i.e. Oxford Instruments FlexAL Atomic Layer Deposition, Oxford Instruments System 100 ICP 380 PECVD, Oxford Instruments PECVD 80+)).
